Sewing Terms Starting with Letter L

Lace Tape

Lace tape is a cotton (or synthetic) fabric roll strip that used for decoration to garments and other items.

Leather

Genuine leather is natural sewing material which excrete from animals skins. The most common types of skins are excreted from skins of cows and pigs.

Light Bulb of Sewing Machine

Light bulb of sewing machine has little size and small screw cap. Sewing machine light bulb you find behind front cover of sewing machine. Note: there are two types of sockets at that connections bulbs of sewing machine.

Lining

Lining is added to inner side of skirts, trousers etc. Dimension of lining pats are the same as details of clothing.

Lock stitch

Most sewing stitching performed by sewing machine need to fasten with extra stitches. Every sewing machine has special reverse lever. When you press this lever sewing machine starts sewing in opposite direction.

Looper

For formation an overcast stitch is used a looper. Looper tip runs into needles loop. Next, the needle comes into the loop of looper thread. Then cycle is repeated and in such way is formed an overlock stitch. Overlocker can to use one or two loopers.

Lower Thread Tension Screw

Lower thread tension screw is needed to adjust a tension on bobbin case. For adjusting you need to use a flat small screwdriver.
